The powers that be at La Liga champions Real Madrid have already come to a decision on their first-choice target to replace the transfer-linked Andriy Lunin.

That’s according to Marca, who have provided a fresh insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

The subject of the aforementioned Lunin’s future has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines at the Santiago Bernabéu for several weeks now.

As much comes amid confirmation that the Ukrainian, previously tipped as just a step away from penning fresh terms in Madrid, is now giving consideration to an immediate exit.

Immediately relegated back to the bench following the return of Thibaut Courtois this past season, Lunin is increasingly doubtful when it comes to his long-term prospects at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Speaking to Marca on Thursday, he therefore affirmed that ‘his future as a Real Madrid player is not clear’.

In the case of an offer deemed as sufficient arriving for his signature, Real Madrid, in turn, are not entirely opposed to a sale.

And, should as much come to fruition, Los Blancos have already decided on Lunin’s successor.

The shot-stopper in the sights of Florentino Pérez and co? Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Spanish international Kepa, who spent this past season on loan with Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, remains held in high regard in the Spanish capital, particularly for his attitude.

With the Chelsea man also more than eager to link back up with Real, a summer reunion between the parties is therefore beginning to look increasingly likely.

Marca go on to conclude that:

‘If Lunin leaves, Kepa will be chosen.’
