Real Madrid had a highly successful 2023-24 season as they won the La Liga and UEFA Champions League double. Throughout that season, the Merengues showed their ability to get wins with suffering and grit and did not have to face many defeats.

Although they have not started the 2024-25 season in a great fashion, Real Madrid have still kept up their streak of not suffering any defeat after the first seven matches.

With their win over Espanyol, MARCA reports the Merengues have now gone a full season-length of La Liga games, 38, without having suffered a defeat. The last time Ancelotti’s men had to face a defeat in the league was in their game against Atletico Madrid on matchday 6 of La Liga 2023-24.

Since then, Los Blancos have not tasted defeat in 38 league matches, getting 28 wins and 10 draws. Next Tuesday, Real Madrid will complete one full calendar year without a defeat, as they suffered this defeat against Atletico Madrid on 24th September 2023.

On that same date, Real Madrid are scheduled to host Alaves, and a win in this match will allow them to take their winning streak beyond a year. After that game, the Merengues will once again face the team that last handed them a defeat, Atletico Madrid.

In their last 38 league matches, Real Madrid have scored 89 goals, while conceding only 23 in return. Vinicius has been the top scorer for the Blancos in this run, scoring 17 goals, while Federico Valverde is the player with the most appearances, 37.

Now, Real Madrid are looking to overcome the record set by Ernesto Valverde’s Barcelona back in 2018, when the Blaugrana team went 43 games without a defeat. Rodrygo already aired his desire to go the full season without a defeat after the win against Espanyol, and hopefully, Ancelotti will be able to further extend this streak in the coming weeks and months.
