Carlo Ancelotti’s tenure at Real Madrid continues to be a subject of intense speculation, especially as the Italian coach has expressed his desire to see out his contract until 2026.

Despite the uncertainties, Ancelotti has led Real Madrid to a strong position in La Liga and is navigating the team through various competitions with notable success. However, his future at the club remains in the hands of president Florentino Perez.

Amidst this backdrop, Real Madrid have reportedly secured an agreement with Xabi Alonso, the current Bayer Leverkusen coach, to take over the reins at the Bernabeu.

Alonso, a former Real Madrid player, is highly regarded for his tactical acumen and the success he has brought to Leverkusen. However, there’s a significant condition attached to his potential move to Madrid.

Xabi Alonso’s non-negotiable requirement

According to Diario SPORT, Xabi Alonso has made it clear that his arrival at Real Madrid is contingent upon one non-negotiable requirement: he does not wish to be embroiled in any controversy or conflict regarding Ancelotti’s departure.

Alonso, who shares a good relationship with Ancelotti from their days together at Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, insists on joining the club only after the coaching position is officially vacated.

He does not want to be perceived as the catalyst behind Ancelotti’s exit, a sentiment he conveyed during negotiations with Madrid’s management.

The ball, therefore, is now on Real Madrid’s court. The club must decide between continuing with Ancelotti next year and risk losing Alonso.

A lot could perhaps come into light later in the season once the hierarchy learns the team’s fate in key competitions such as the Copa Del Rey and the UEFA Champions League.
