Following a disastrous weekend that saw three first-team stars pick up injuries, the upcoming international will serve as respite for Real Madrid, giving them some time to sit back and rethink their strategy, especially with the January transfer window just around the corner.

It is apparent that Real Madrid are likely to enter the market for reinforcements in January, as they desperately require new faces in defence and midfield.

Real Madrid to monitor two players

To that end, a recent report from Manuel Amor has suggested that Real Madrid are set to keep close tabs on two defenders in the upcoming international break.

The players in question are Aymeric Laporte and Pedro Porro – two players who have been linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu lately.

Laporte is currently plying his trade at Al Nassr. He is, in fact, a teammate of Cristiano Ronaldo. However, a return to Europe has not been ruled out, although Real Madrid reportedly would have to fork out €15-20 million for his services.

Laporte will be in action for Spain in the upcoming UEFA Nations League, where La Roja will take on Denmark and Switzerland.

Porro, meanwhile, is one of Real Madrid’s prime alternatives for top target Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has recently picked up an injury.

The Tottenham right-back has been a consistent performer in the Premier League and could be an interesting option for Los Blancos.

Porro will be in action for Portugal as they take on Poland and Croatia in this international break.

Real Madrid will keep a close eye on how the Portuguese international performs, as the club eye a potential move for him in the future.
