Real Madrid on alert: Borussia Dortmund ‘insisting’ on signing of Girona star

A leading member of the defensive ranks at La Liga outfit Girona is attracting strong interest from German giants Borussia Dortmund.

That’s according to Relevo, who point towards Miguel Gutiérrez as the player in question.

Left-back Gutiérrez, for his part, is fresh off nothing short of a superb campaign in Spain’s top-flight, on the books of surprise package Girona.

All told, across 40 appearances in all competitions, the 22-year-old racked up two goals, and a hefty nine assists.

Such exploits have given rise to inevitable speculation surrounding a potential Girona departure, with a number of clubs from across Europe having been credited with an interest in his services.

And, as alluded to above, on Tuesday, one such club have been highlighted as ready to step up their pursuit.

As per a report from Relevo:

‘The case of Miguel Gutiérrez has been in the news for months. The big clubs in Europe have knocked on his door, although Borussia Dortmund is the club that is most insistent.’

BVB are labelled as being in a ‘good position’ to strike a deal for the full-back, considering an imminent offer to Girona.

And yet, the entire saga will ultimately hinge on those behind the scenes at another La Liga outfit, in Real Madrid.

Real boast a buyback clause for Gutiérrez, set at just €8 million, which remains active through the close of the summer transfer window.

The Spaniard himself is eager to link back up with his former club, but the intentions of Los Blancos themselves remain altogether more unclear.

It is also not out of the question that Real could simply buy Gutiérrez back, with a view to selling him on for what would no doubt come as a considerable profit.
