Real Madrid absolutely convinced about signing key target for free in the summer – Romano
Real Madrid have made Trent Alexander-Arnold of Liverpool their priority target for the summer transfer window.
The Merengues need a new right-back to compete with and eventually take over from Dani Carvajal and have identified Alexander-Arnold as their ideal target.
Real Madrid have been working on the deal for the England international for quite some time now, given that he can be signed for free in the summer when his contract at Liverpool expires.
Real Madrid ‘absolutely convinced’ about success
Providing an update on the situation, journalist Fabrizio Romano states that Real Madrid are ‘absolutely convinced’ and ‘confident’ about signing Alexander-Arnold in the summer transfer window, on a free transfer.
Real Madrid approached Liverpool earlier this month to try and fast-track the right-back’s arrival in the current transfer window but were met with rejection.
The Reds have no intentions of letting their homegrown superstar go in the ongoing window, which they made clear to Los Blancos.
In fact, Liverpool will try to convince Alexander-Arnold to renew his contract and continue at Anfield beyond this season.
But Real Madrid are convinced about landing their man come summer.
In fact, some reports in Spain have even suggested that the England international has already signed with the Merengues and could be available for the FIFA Club World Cup in the summer.
It remains to be seen if Real Madrid’s confidence pays off and Alexander-Arnold arrives at the Santiago Bernabeu or whether the situation turns out to be similar to the one with Alphonso Davies.
