As Real Madrid prepared for their first La Liga game of the season today at the Valdebebas facility, there was a surprise presence in the training session.

Indeed, according to journalist Rodra, 17-year-old goalkeeping prodigy, Illia Voloshyn, was called up to train with the senior squad for the first time ever.

Voloshyn joined Real Madrid in January earlier this year, arriving from Rayo Majadahonda. The teenage shot-stopper is held in very high regard at the club.

An agreement to sign him from Majadahonda had already been reached last year itself but Los Blancos had to wait until January for FIFA to authorise the transfer.

The young goalkeeper is considered to be exceptional with the ball at his feet while his physical condition is said to be ‘spectacular’ for a 17-year-old.

Real Madrid already have a gem of a young goalkeeper in Fran Gonzalez, who is tipped for a bright future at the club.

Now, the Merengues have added another exciting goalkeeping talent to La Fabrica in Voloshyn, who is already being exposed to first-team training even though he is unlikely to be a part of the squad right away.

Apart from Voloshyn, Real Madrid first-team manager Carlo Ancelotti also had a few other youngsters from the youth and reserve teams in training today.

Another goalkeeper Diego Pineiro was also called up for training along with Nico Paz and Jacobo Ramon, who has even been registered with La Liga for the new season.

Real Madrid take on RCD Mallorca in their first La Liga game of the season away at Son Moix on Sunday night.
