Real Betis confirm major Isco setback
La Liga outfit Real Betis have on Wednesday confirmed that a key member of the club’s squad has been dealt a major setback on the injury front.
The player in question? Isco.
Midfielder Isco has for his part been sidelined since all the way back in May, forced to sit out Euro 2024 after going under the knife to repair a fracture in his left fibula.
The expectation was that the former Real Madrid man would be back on the pitch imminently, potentially as soon as Real Betis’ first outing following the international break.
As alluded to above, however, this will not prove to be the case.
In fact, those of a Verdiblancos persuasion should not expect to see Isco back lining out in the club’s colours any time soon.
As per a statement across the club’s website and social media platforms on Wednesday, their midfield creator will imminently undergo a 2nd surgical procedure:
‘Following control tests conducted on Isco Alarcón over the past few days, a lack of consolidation in the fracture callus and the formation of solid bone bridges have been detected.Given the risk of incomplete consolidation in the coming months, after evaluation by the club’s medical services in conjunction with other external specialists experienced in this type of process, it has been decided to surgically revise the fracture site in an attempt to revitalize it.’

As per a report from Relevo, taking into account his initial rest period and ensuing recovery work, Isco is likely to be sidelined for another three to four months.
