Get ready to relive the Dolphins’ glory days – Miami’s first throwback uniform game is almost here

Get ready to reminisce on the glory days — the Miami Dolphins’ first throwback game is nearly here.

Thursday night’s matchup against the AFC East rival Buffalo Bills will see the Dolphins rock their aqua throwback uniforms. The Dolphins will do so again — albeit, the white ones — for a Thanksgiving Day matchup against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

“I love the throwback,” Jaylen Waddle said in 2023. “Now if that was up to me, I’d definitely have that as our every week jersey.”

Both classic uniforms reference important periods in Dolphins history. The aqua throwbacks honor the franchise’s 1966 AFL debut while the white ones were famously worn during Miami’s undefeated, Super Bowl-winning season in 1972.

“I think we’re fortunate to have an iconic logo,” coach Mike McDaniel said in 2023, later adding that the uniforms remind him of his “childhood.”

Deion Sanders’ popular adage — “you look good, you play good” — comes to mind considering the 2023 Dolphins’ success in the throwback uniforms. Last season’s victories over the New England Patriots (31-17) in late October and the Dallas Cowboys (22-20) on Christmas Day came while in the throwback uniforms.

Hopefully the Dolphins can channel some of that 1972 team considering the media storm that has surrounded the team ever since Miami-Dade police accosted Tyreek Hill outside of Hard Rock Stadium just hours before his game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. With two games in five days, the Dolphins may need all the help they can get.
