Reading have appointed Noel Hunt as their new manager after the departure of Ruben Selles to Hull City.

BBC Radio Berkshire understands the 41-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

The former Leeds United, Ipswich Town and Reading striker will take charge of his first game at League One leaders Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

Hunt takes over with the club sixth in the table.

The former Republic of Ireland international was previously assistant and caretaker manager at Swindon Town, and appointed caretaker boss of Reading in April 2023 following the sacking of Paul Ince.
