According to Patrick Berger, Borussia Dortmund’s pending transfer of Rayan Cherki (20) from Olympique Lyonnais could be on the verge of collapsing. No fee has been agreed between the two clubs. Personal terms have been formalised between the 20-year-old and the Bundesliga club but no progress on the transfer has been made in recent days with no talks currently ongoing.

Dortmund bosses are impressed by the player but mixed internal feelings are at risk of causing the deal to collapse. Newly-appointed head coach Nuri Sahin has spoken to Cherki but is not entirely convinced by the signing of the France U21 international. As a result, the German club are hesitating about the deal.

A need to sell

In the meantime, Dortmund are pressing ahead to finalise moves for Yan Couto and Pascal Groß, Berger reports. Once these two transfers have been finalised the Champions League finalists will have to sell players before any other transfers can be completed.
