Rayan Cherki has not yet been offered Lyon extension
According to a report by Fabrice Hawkins and confirmed by Foot Mercato, Olympique Lyonnais have not yet tabled a contract extension to Rayan Cherki (21). These reports are in contrast to L’Équipe who have suggested that Cherki is set to sign a three-year extension at his formative club.
Hawkins writes that the club have proposed the idea of an extension and it has some support behind it but they have not yet discussed contract length or salary at this point in time. Lyon are thought to be focusing on other priorities in the closing stages of the transfer window before returning to Cherki.
A busy summer for Rayan Cherki
Lyon had placed Cherki in the “loft” this summer as they looked to sell a player entering the final year of his contract. All signs appeared to point towards an exit, the club had agreed to a fee with Paris Saint-Germain in late June, but at the last minute, the player instead wanted to join Borussia Dortmund, who had not sent an offer.
More recently, Fulham had been interested in lifting the player away from his formative club and had a €15 million bid accepted but Cherki was uninterested in the project.
