Rasmus Ristolainen scorches Brent Burns, does another amazing celly

Oh my goodness, Rasmus Ristolainen. You’ve outdone yourself once again.

With the Buffalo Sabres looking to match a franchise record with a tenth straight win on Tuesday night against the San Jose Sharks and the game scoreless late in the middle frame, the Finnish defenceman put his puck wizardry on display.

The 24-year-old caught the Sharks napping after receiving a pass from Tage Thompson. He got his legs moving and came down on the San Jose defenders.

This is the part that blew me away: He looked up twice while rushing with the puck. Despite approaching one of the best blueliners in the league in Brent Burns, he decided to pull off that ridiculous move before ripping the puck over the glove of Martin Jones.

That’s a man with some massive guts.

To add to the spectacle, his spin of the stick and ‘tiptoeing through the tulips’ celebration that would make Tiny Tim proud was incredible.

Ristolainen, now in his sixth NHL season and coming off his third-straight 40+ point campaign, clearly loves scoring big goals. He also pulled out quite the celebration against the Montreal Canadiens earlier this month after firing a bomb past Carey Price in overtime.

A clapper followed by the pumping of half-a-dozen rounds into the ice with the twig is not a bad way to end a game, if you ask me.

Coincidentally, it was that overtime winner that began Buffalo’s current winning streak that has shot them up the standings.

Ristolainen now has three goals and 14 points this season.

Sabres’ sniper Jeff Skinner scored in overtime to give Buffalo the 3-2 victory, their tenth straight this season.
