Drake, Raptors fans belt out epic rendition of 'O Canada' ahead of Game 5

Ahead of the biggest game in the history of the Toronto Raptors, the organization decided to go a different route when it came to the singing of the Canadian national anthem.

While the team has had homegrown stars such as Alessia Cara perform ‘O Canada’ at Scotiabank Arena during previous contests in the NBA Finals, they decided to have nobody steal the spotlight for Game 5 on Monday night.

Instead, they had the roughly 20,000 people in attendance sing the anthem, and the moment truly was a special one.

Led by Doug Tranquada, a longtime anthem performer, the fans briefly stole the show by showcasing their music talents before Kawhi Leonard and Co. hit the hardwood against the Golden State Warriors with a 3-1 series lead in their back pockets.

And while this was supposed to be about the fans, Drake ended up getting a bit of extra attention (as he always seems to do) when cameras caught the Toronto rapper and music producer passionately lending his voice to the cause from his courtside seats.

And after the final note, the man known as Champagne Papi went off.

The Raptors global ambassador and the team he loves so much were definitely hoping for plenty of bubbly to be flowing at game’s end. However, their 106-105 defeat has extended the series and put any celebrations on hold.

Well, at least for the time being.
