Raptors' Pascal Siakam selected to NBA All-Star Game as injury replacement

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards and Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox are also heading to the All-Star Game.

Pascal Siakam is heading to the NBA All-Star Game after all.

The Toronto Raptors forward was one of three players selected by commissioner Adam Silver as an injury replacement, joining Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards and Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox for the honour. Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant and New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson were chosen as participants but will not be able to play in the annual showcase.

Siakam is enjoying the best season of his career in 2022-23, averaging 25 points, eight rebounds and 6.2 assists per game through 46 contests. He is the only player in the Eastern Conference averaging at least 25 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

The Cameroon native was also named an All-Star during the 2019-20 campaign when he represented “Team Giannis.” Siakam scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds in the contest.

While Siakam has enjoyed personal success this season, the Raptors are currently stuck in 10th place in the East with a record of 26-30. They decided not to move their best assets at the trade deadline, instead opting to add Jakob Poeltl in an attempt to climb the standings.

This year’s All-Star Game is scheduled for Feb. 19 at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah.
