What Raptors, Cavs were thinking on LeBron's legendary shot in Game 3

CLEVELAND — If LeBron James says a shot is “very difficult,” you know it’s not easy.

But he sure made it look that way on Saturday.

The moment the Cavs inbounded the ball with eight seconds to go in Cleveland’s Game 3 win over the Toronto Raptors, you could sense the inevitable. You know LeBron’s going to get the last shot, and he’s probably going to make it. Even when O.G. Anunoby tied the game on a late 3, the crowd barely flinched. There was a little stunned silence, but they’ve seen this show before and know how it ends.

You just don’t expect it to go down like that. Unless, of course, you get to witness it everyday.

“What you come to find out as his teammate and playing with him is that he practises those shots all the time. He makes them all the time,” Kevin Love said after the game. “You almost do expect it to go in.”

As for LeBron, there was no doubt in his mind that he would come through in that moment.

“Tie game, down one or whatever the case may be, I live for those moments,” said James.

“I trust every shot that I’m gonna take because I work on every shot,” James added. “No matter if it’s the first quarter or the game winner, I feel pretty comfortable with it.”

As for the Raptors, yeah, they probably could have played it better. Kyle Lowry admitted they knew LeBron was going left. Dwane Casey said he could have been more clear in his instructions. But it’s LeBron James we’re talking about. Sometimes all you can do is hope the ball bounces your way.
