Ranking the best Premier League kits we’ll see in 2024/25

With another Premier League season upon us, it’s high time we rate some of the best kits we’ll see on display over the next ten months.

5. Crystal Palace – Home

The classic blue and red stripes have returned following last year’s tidy half-and-half effort, although Macron has gone with a trippy design on this occasion.

The shirt features embedded eagles and a commemorative ‘stamp’ on the back collar to celebrate 100 years since the opening of Selhurst Park.

4. Brentford – Away

For whatever reason, pink is in vogue when it comes to Premier League away and third kits this season. Barbie was so last year, guys.

Out of the ones we’ve seen so far from Brentford, Ipswich Town and Southampton (Nottingham Forest’s is black with pink details), the Bees can boast the best of the lot. Umbro have gone with an understated but stylish light shade of pink with purple details.

The striped cuffs and buttoned neck give off yet more vibes of a bygone era in football, which seems to be a big theme in 2024/25. We won’t complain, though.

3. Newcastle United – Away

Maybe it’s the nostalgia talking, but Adidas’s tribute act to Kevin Keegan’s Entertainers has fully won me over. The legendary blue and burgundy hoops from the 1995/96 season have returned, complete with a white rounded collar.

2. Arsenal – Away

At this stage, Arsenal are a sportswear brand that play football on the side. Ever since Adidas reunited with the Gunners in 2019, the German kit manufacturers have churned out banger after banger.

This season’s away edition follows that tradition. Designed in collaboration with Labrum London, Arsenal will be sporting this wonderful black jersey with pan-African tints while on the road. The zig-zag pattern is inspired by 1920s African art, and we expect this one to fly off the rack.

1. West Ham Utd – Home

Speaking of retro-inspired kits, Umbro have outdone themselves with a West Ham top straight out of the Sixties, paying tribute to the club’s golden era.

The lighter shades of claret and blue, the thick rounded collars and cuffs with striped details, and crest with inverted colours are a perfect way to commemorate the 1965 team that won the European Cup Winners’ Cup.

While we’re on the topic of anniversaries, Umbro is celebrating their centenary this year, hence the filled-in logo. A nice touch.

Honourable Mention: Manchester City – Away

Like we said, retro is very much A Thing this season. It’s probably a sign that kit manufacturers have run out of ideas, likely as a result of having to design so bloody many of them year in, year out.

Regardless, I love Puma’s tribute to the bonkers Manchester City kit they wore in the 1999 Second Division play-off final. The black, luminous yellow and blue colour combo should in theory be a crime on fashion, but it somehow comes together really nicely. It’s just missing the iconic Brother shirt sponsorship.
