Rangers Unleashing Arthur Kaliyev And Matt Rempe

Expect to see some new faces in the New York Rangers’ lineup on Thursday night against the New Jersey Devils.

Arthur Kaliyev is set to make his debut for the Rangers after getting claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday.

The 2019 second-round pick had a rocky tenure with the Kings as he was scratched on multiple occasions over his last two years with the team.

However, Kaliyev has shown potential and now gets a new opportunity to prove himself in New York.

“I’ve been looking for it for quite a bit of time,” Kaliyev said about his desire for a fresh start. “It's going to be really exciting here. New fresh start and opportunity to prove yourself as a player and I’m really excited for this opportunity.”

The 23-year-old forward is expected to play on a line alongside Brett Berard and Jonny Brodzinski.

Meanwhile, Matt Rempe will return to the lineup after serving an eight-game suspension for a hit he delivered on Miro Heiskanen.

Rempe has only played in five games for the Rangers this season as he continues to get sent up and down from the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Going forward, Rempe knows that he has to be more careful with his hits in order to avoid another suspension.

“I gotta still play my game, but it can’t happen again or else it’s going to be a huge suspension,” Rempe said. “I gotta be a lot smarter, I don’t have to make every hit if that makes sense. I gotta be able to pick my hits… I gotta be a bit more controlled.”

“If there is any way in doubt, I should veer on the side of caution for now. I’m a marked man right now, so I gotta keep it clean.”

The 22-year-old forward will likely play on a line alongside Sam Carrick and Adam Edström.
