Rangers Trade Kaapo Kakko To Kraken In Exchange For Will Borgen And Draft Picks

The New York Rangers have traded Kaapo Kakko to the Seattle Kraken in exchange for defenseman Will Borgen, a 2025 third-round pick and a 2025 sixth-round pick.

This comes after Kakko was scratched for the Rangers’ Sunday night game against the St. Louis Blues and he made his frustrations public to the media.

Kakko was drafted by the Rangers with the second overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft.

The 23-year-old played a total of six seasons for the Rangers as he recorded 61 goals, 70 assists and 131 points in 330 games.

Borgen was drafted with the 92 pick in 2015 by the Buffalo Sabres. He ultimately was claimed by the Kraken in the expansion draft and that’s where he’s been ever since.

In 247 NHL games, the 27-year-old has tallied nine goals, 46 assists and 55 points.
