Rangers' Top Trade Target J.T. Miller Gets Called Out By Rick Tocchet For Poor Play

It’s been an interesting season for J.T. Miller.

From a leave of absence, to trade rumors, to on-ice struggles, Miller has been through a lot with the Vancouver Canucks.

Rick Tocchet addressed Miller’s struggles and was blunt about how the veteran forward could be better.

“Yeah, he’s struggling,” Tocchet said. “He’s caught in between. You know, it seems like every time he’s on the ice, something bad happens. I think he’s got some bad luck, but he’s also got some reads that he’s got to look at himself right now and focus on some of these reads. I think he’s trying. I think the focus level has to get a little higher.”

A reported feud between Miller and Elias Pettersson has made public headlines and continues to cause a media storm around the Canucks organization.

The New York Rangers were linked to have interest in Miller by multiple NHL insiders, but it is yet to be seen if Chris Drury would be willing to meet Vancouver’s requirements in a deal.

The 31-year-old has recorded eight goals, 21 assists and 29 points in 34 games this season.
