Rangers Revert Back To Prime Form In Win Over Blackhawks

The New York Rangers received a much-needed confidence boost after defeatinf the Chicago Blackhawks 6-2 on Sunday afternoon.

Less than 10 minutes into the contest, the Blackhawks scored a goal, putting the Rangers in an early hole.

Instead of letting it derail the game though, the Rangers maintained their composure and began to play some excellent hockey.

To close out the first period, the Rangers got goals from Jonny Brodzinski who filled in for the injured Chris Kreider and Will Borgen, which marked his first goal with the Blueshirts.

In the second period, the Rangers truly started to dominate. Goals from Filip Chytil, Reilly Smith and Vincent Trocheck essentially put the game out of reach for Chicago.

Throughout the entirety of the afternoon, the Rangers played a fast-paste style of hockey that we were accustomed to seeing from this team last season.

They created turnovers, got quality possession time in the offensive zone and brought a physical edge that threw off the Blackhawks.

Louis Domingue started his first game of the season for the Rangers and he recorded 25 saves on 27 shots.

While this victory was against the worst team in the NHL, the Rangers have to take anything they could get at this point, so a win is a win.

The Rangers will be back in action on Tuesday night against the Dallas Stars.
