Rangers Reportedly Had Closed-Door Meeting As Players Grow Frustrated With Chris Drury
Emily Kaplan of ESPN dropped a bombshell on what’s going on with the New York Rangers behind the scenes.
According to Kaplan, the players had a closed-door meeting and Rangers general manager Chris Drury was a point of contention.
“Friction is happening,” Kaplan said about the Rangers. “I’ve heard from multiple people actually after their loss on Sunday in St. Louis there was a closed-door meeting and those people thought that was pretty significant.

“There are some players that are super frustrated towards Chris Drury and the way he’s handled business over the last several months. There are also players that still support him.”
The Rangers have lost 11 of their last 14 games and on top of that, Drury traded the team’s former captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks while sending out a league-wide memo stating he is open to making moves with the intention of shaking up the team.
That caused a flurry of trade rumors and outside noise over the past couple of weeks with the Rangers continuing to spiral out of control.
Despite a reported growing distaste toward Drury among some players, Kaplan adds that Rangers owner James Dolan still supports Drury and all he has done.
“The one reporting I did land on though is the owner James Dolan still supports Chris Drury,” Kaplan said. “In fact, James Dolan was aware of that memo Drury sent out last month that has now begun this free fall.”
Drury said following the Trouba trade he wanted to let the dust settle, but the speculation and turmoil around the team has only gotten louder.
The dust has been far from settled and the Rangers need to figure things out quickly before their season gets out of hand.
