Rangers ‘Frustrated And Irritated’ With Overtime Loss To Avalanche
If there are any moral victories, the New York Rangers just got one.
Despite losing 3-2 in overtime against the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday night, the Rangers have reasons to be happy.
For the most part, the Rangers played a gritty 60 minutes of hockey, a new style that this team has recently adopted.
The fourth-line duo of Sam Carrick and Adam Edström were fantastic once again as they both had goals of their own.
New York led 2-1 for a large portion of the night and contained an explosive Avalanche offense especially with Shesterkin making some big saves down the stretch.
With a little bit over one minute remaining in the contest though, Artturi Lehkonen scored and the Rangers ultimately lost in overtime.
Peter Laviolette feels the Rangers did enough to win, which is why frustrations were notably high.
“The frustrating thing is not to get the second point in the column which we need,” Laviolette said. “That's why everybody's just frustrated and irritated with the night.”
There is a sense that despite the loss, the team is not demoralized due to their encouraging performance.
“It's a disappointing loss but at the same time, I think we have a lot of positive things to look at,” Braden Schneider said. “Move on and keep bringing what we're doing and keep trying to win.”
The Rangers will be back in action on Thursday night against the Utah Hockey Club.
