Radoslaw Majecki: "Show the same concentration as in Bologna"

Back in competition since October 18, the Monaco goalkeeper, who has had two clean sheets in five appearances, spoke at a press conference on the eve of the trip to Strasbourg.

He’s back! Having returned from injury after the October international break, Radoslaw Majecki has since played five games in goal for AS Monaco, with two clean sheets in the process. But while the Rouge et Blanc are performing well in the Champions League, the Polish goalkeeper now wants to get back on track in Ligue 1. This is what he explained to the media on the eve of the trip to Strasbourg (kick-off 5pm).🎙️

I had started preseason with the team very well, gaining more and more confidence in myself. But this injury to my right ankle intervened, so I had to wait for eight weeks without playing football, to come back. Now I am 100% recovered and ready to play all the matches.

Cela fait maintenant trois ans que j’ai signé, et je me suis toujours senti bien ici, et ce dès le premier jour, c'est pourquoi j'ai voulu prolonger mon aventure avec les Rouge et Blanc.

On his development in recent years

I have always worked hard for this moment! It has been three years now since I signed here, and I have always felt good here, from the first day, that is why I wanted to extend my time in Rouge et Blanc. My goal is to show my qualities in every training session and every match.

About the national team

Our national team has always had good goalkeepers, so it is difficult to be called up. I am still waiting, even if I respect the coach’s decision. I can’t do much more. If I continue to progress at the club, then it will only be a matter of time, but nothing is a given in life!

Among the squad, I have known Martin (Bulka) since the youth categories, we were together in the under-14 and 15 age groups. He is a top goalkeeper, he deserves his call-up.

His best save?

I’m still waiting for it this season (smiles)! Last season? I would say the performance against Lens in the Coupe de France last January. It was an incredible performance on my side and also for the team, because there was a lot of pressure.

The turning point of last season

I don’t know if this match against Lens was a turning point, but my only goal was to win this Coupe de France match and play as well as possible. When the coach told me that I was going to play there again in Ligue 1 this time, I was happy! I was waiting for this moment so I told him: “Let’s go, let’s do it as a team and win this match.”

They're a tough opponent who have a stadium with a good atmosphere. We'll have to be focused, as we were against Bologna.

Competition at the top of the table

When you’re an ambitious team, you want to win every game you play. Can we be Paris Saint-Germain’s competitor? You’ll have to ask me that question later, it’s still too early to talk about a title battle at this stage of the season. We’ll talk about it again in May.

A rection after the match against Angers

Nobody likes to lose games, for us or for the fans, so we want to put in a good performance against Strasbourg. But it won’t be easy, they’re a tough opponent who have a stadium with a good atmosphere.

Activate Champions League mode? We’ll have to be focused, as we were against Bologna. Tired? It’s only the beginning of the season, we can’t be tired (smile)! We’re a professional team, it’s normal to play matches one after the other!

This is part of our preparation. We analyze each attacker of each team we face. Besides, I remember our match last season against them.
