The husband of mixed martial arts fighter Rachael Ostovich has pleaded no contest to assault charges. Arnold Berdon was arrested in November and charged with assault after allegedly being involved in a domestic violence attack that left Ostovich with a broken orbital bone.

The 28-year-old Berdon will take part in a domestic violence intervention program. If he does well in that program, he will likely avoid jail time.

Berdon pleaded no contest to the charges to prevent a legal battle, according to ESPN: “Berdon said after the hearing that he decided to plead no contest to spare his family from a legal battle. He said he and his wife are divorcing. They have a daughter.”

Ostovich filed for a restraining order after the attack.

While she was initially hesitant to return, Ostovich made her way back to mixed martial arts in January, taking on Paige VanZant at UFC Brooklyn. Ostovich lost to VanZant, tapping out in the second round.
