Quinn Ewers injury update: Texas QB must show he can play at 'high level' | Steve Sarkisian
Texas football quarterback Quinn Ewers could be closer to returning to the field, but he still has some steps to take.
During his Monday news conference, Longhorns coach Steve Sarkisian updated the status of his starting quarterback to begin the season, saying he returned to practice. He declined to say whether he would return to the starting lineup for the Week 5 game vs. Mississippi State.

Sarkisian told reporters that Ewers practiced on Monday, adding he still needs to work to return to the lineup for Saturday's SEC opener vs. Mississippi State.
"Quinn practiced today," Sarkisian said (via David Eckert of the Austin American-Statesman). "I would say if, again, if I had to put a report out, he'd be questionable for Saturday."
Ewers sustained an oblique strain during a 56-7 Longhorns victory over UTSA on Sept. 14. Arch Manning took over for Ewers against UTSA, and made his first career start on Saturday against UL Monroe. Manning completed 15 of 29 passes for 258 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
SEC teams are required to send out an injury report for conference games on Wednesdays.
"He's gotta do enough to show me he can play," Sarkisian said. "We've got a game plan, can he execute the game plan? That's really the truth. I wanna make sure he's healthy enough to play at a high level. I was impressed with where he was today."
