Queen Elizabeth Is Caught in the Act Applying Lipstick—Here Are Deets on Her Go-To Shade of Pink

After missing the opening of Parliament, it was a royal thrill to have not one, not two, but three surprise Queen Elizabeth sightings—the first two at the Royal Windsor Horse Show and the third at the opening of the Elizabeth Line at Paddington Station. (Come on, she was a vision in yellow.)

But, as my co-host Roberta Fiorito and I discuss on this week’s episode of the Royally Obsessed podcast (listen to it here!), there was a particular moment that caught our eye while the queen took in “A Gallop Through History,” a glittering performance charting the Elizabethan Age, at the Royal Windsor Horse Show.

Her Majesty refreshed her bright coral lipstick...in plain sight.

Before you think this is a breach of royal protocol, the queen has been applying her lipstick publicly for decades. (We’d bet all women can relate to the impracticality of finding a mirror every single time.) Bottom line, we’re here for the queen’s energy—and beauty habits.

Because if there’s one thing we know, a pop of bright lipstick is the main ingredient to wake up your whole look.

As for which shade of coral the queen prefers, that’s a royal secret. But according to People, Her Majesty’s beauty bag includes Elizabeth Arden, which has held a Royal Warrant from the palace for almost 60 years. (We think this shade—Truly Pink Cream—looks pretty close.)

Another contender for Queen Elizabeth’s fave shade? Clarins also has a Royal Warrant and created a custom red lipstick for the queen to wear on her Coronation Day in 1953. Oh la la! Their raspberry hue is another close match.

Now, the hard part: Mastering the art of applying mirror-free lipstick as well as the queen. (Come on, she’s got skills.)
