PSG president denies Mohamed Salah transfer rumours

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has denied reports that the club are in talks with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah (32).

L’Équipe broke the story on Sunday that PSG had been negotiating with the Liverpool star over a free transfer next summer when his contract with the Premier League club comes to an end. Salah is currently in a standoff with Liverpool over a contract extension and at this point, it looks as if the winger will be walking away from Merseyside.

The French outlet claimed that a source had told them that the PSG and Salah had been in talks for a considerable amount of time and that the Egyptian international had now opened the doors to a move to France. The outlet further noted that Les Parisiens are in the market for a winger having missed out on Jadon Sancho, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and Nico Williams.

At the time PSG denied the story, and now in an interview with Sky Germany, the club president stated: “He’s a fantastic and amazing player, but we’ve never considered him, to be honest. We know every club would love to have him, but this rumour about us is simply not true.” However, Khelaifi did open the door to his side making deals in January (albeit not for Salah) to improve the squad, “If there is an opportunity, we will of course explore.”
