PSG ‘open to selling’ Manchester United transfer target

PSG ‘open to selling’ Manchester United transfer target

Paris Saint-Germain are open to selling Manuel Ugarte this summer if the club receive a ‘good proposal’, amid initial contact from Manchester United.

Ugarte has struggled to nail down an automatic role in the PSG side since signing from Sporting Lisbon for a fee of €60m (£50.6m) last summer.

The Uruguay international made just 21 league starts for the French champions and PSG will consider his sale should a suitable offer arrive.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United have made initial contact over Ugarte, as part of transfer negotiations with PSG over several players. However, no bid has been submitted for the 23-year-old.

Chelsea were linked with signing Ugarte last summer before turning to Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia as defensive midfield options, while Liverpool were also named as admirers and remain interested in reinforcing their anchor role.

Ugarte led Ligue 1 for tackles (98) and ranked third for tackles won (57) despite his limited action for PSG last season. In his final campaign with Sporting Lisbon, Ugarte topped the Primeira Liga for pass completion (91.6%), tackles (121) and tackles won (69), and ranked fifth for interceptions (57).

His prolific ball-winning has made him an attractive target for Manchester United, amid doubts over the future of Casemiro and Sofyan Amrabat’s return to Fiorentina following a loan spell at Old Trafford.
