PSG deny tabling world-record €250 million offer for Barcelona sensation

Earlier this week, reports emerged claiming that PSG had shown a strong interest in Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal as an option to replace Kylian Mbappe.

It was initially suggested that the Parisian giants had made contact with the 16-year-old’s agent, Jorge Mendes, to explore the possibility of a transfer.

Furthermore, it was even reported that the Ligue 1 champions had offered a mammoth €250 million fee for Yamal, only for Barcelona to shoot it down.

PSG deny all reports

However, PSG sources consulted by SPORT have stated that “it is not true”. They assure that the club have never presented an offer of €250 million for the transfer of Lamine Yamal.

No one from the French club has sat down to negotiate with Deco or with Jorge Mendes, the player’s agent.

It is claimed that PSG were surprised and annoyed after the news about their alleged offer for Yamal spread last night.

The links between Lamine and PSG are nothing new. In recent months, Barça president Joan Laporta had publicly stated that the club had rejected a huge €200 million offer for the La Masia forward, although PSG were never directly mentioned.

It is true that Luis Enrique and his sporting advisor Luis Campos are fond of the Barcelona youth product. But PSG stress that there is a gulf between that and making an offer that would make him the most expensive signing in history.

Barcelona not worried

As far as Barcelona are concerned, they are not at all worried when it comes the matter of Lamine Yamal’s future.

The Blaugrana tied him down to a new contract until 2026 last year and shielded him with a €1 billion release clause. Furthermore, there is a pact between the two parties for the deal to be extended until 2030 once he turns 18.
