PSG could reignite interest in Manchester United forward

Paris Saint-Germain could reignite their interest in signing Marcus Rashford from Manchester United.

PSG are assessing the market for replacements for Kylian Mbappe who has agreed a deal to sign for Real Madrid on a free transfer.

The French champions have a long-term interest in Rashford with president Nasser Al-Khelaifi having gone public in his admiration of the player before he signed a new contract at Manchester United in 2023.

Rashford endured a disappointing individual campaign in 2023-24 to score just seven league goals, following a career-best season that saw him win Manchester United’s Player of the Season award a year earlier.

In 2022-23, he became the first player to score 30 goals in a season for the club in a decade, but his dip last term saw Rashford excluded from the England squad for Euro 2024.

PSG remain interested in a deal but will only pursue Rashford if there is ‘encouragement’ from the player’s side, according to talkSPORT.

Manchester United are not ‘actively looking to sell’ the forward, though a big-money offer from Ligue 1 could tempt a sale, as Erik ten Hag looks to bring in funds to reshape his squad.

The Premier League’s current Profit and Sustainability rules (PSR) incentivise the sale of academy graduates due to their status as complete profit on the balance sheet.
