Prospects, Trade Rumors And More Rangers News

Ten Things Every Rangers Fan Should Know Before The Game In Vegas.

1. For a couple of years left wing Brennan Othmann's name was highest on The Hockey News "Future Watch" of top ten Rangers prospects. All signs indicate that his star is falling; and fast! He's rarely mentioned anymore.

2. The biggest scoring surprise of the season has to be Will Cuylle.

3. The Maven doesn't know if you noticed but Mika Zibanejad has made a few style adjustments and is looking like his old self again.

4. I don't know about you but I never expected Vegas to top the league at this point in time.

5. Matt Rempe didn't hurt the Rangers in his seven-plus minutes – four hits, no points – on the ice. He rates another shot tonight.

6. Since many Ranger fans head South for the Winter, Blueshirt supporters will be heard loud and clear in Miami at the Winter Classic next January. The Panthers will host the event at Loandepot Park.

7. My inside info is that Brad Park will be the next Ranger legend to have a banner hoisted in his honor. (Not sure when.)

8. Fiery Fil Chytil's "injury" will remain a secret until he steps on the ice either tonight or whenever.

9. Prayers, good wishes, rah-rahs and jokes have been deluging my buddy John Giannone, who recently went public that he's being treated for prostate cancer.

10. Since J.T. Miller's name keeps emerging in trade talks, you have to wonder why the Blueshirts unloaded him in the first place. Or, as reader Bernie Rohde points out, "He was a solid pro, nothing flashy but he came to the rink ready every day and gave 100 percent."
