Product Review: Gawlik's Score for Upper Deck 2024-25 Synergy Hockey
Upper Deck 2024-25 Synergy Hockey released on Jan. 15, 2025. Each box of Synergy has eight packs and three cards per pack. There is no defined hit guarantee per box, however, collectors can expect one numbered base card, SP Rookies Red, Auto, or Metal per box. Upper Deck 2024-25 Synergy retails for $110 USD per box.
Upper Deck got very creative with 2024-25 Synergy Hockey. Synergy features 11 new inserts including Drop the Hammer, Monuments, Impressions, and the new case hit Interdimensional.
Synergy always features a nice checklist that blends rookies, veterans, and legends under the same product. The base card design is sleek and easy on the eyes.
Unlike other products, the Synergy base cards are not loaded with color and parallels. The base parallels are numbered to 99 or less.
The Starquest inserts got a nice redesign. The 2023-24 version felt cheap.
Upper Deck 2024-25 Synergy features many nice upgrades over 2023-24 Synergy. But there are a few concerns.
There needs to be a clearly defined hit on average, per box. Collectors, breakers, and shop owners use that as a tool to sell or buy the product. The price per box is a bit steep. Synergy Hockey historically drops in price a few weeks after release week.
The face of the 2024-25 hockey card rookie class, Macklin Celebrini, is a ghost in the product. Connor Bedard was littered everywhere in 2023-24 Synergy Hockey. Celebrini has a small handful of base cards and autographs.
As of writing, there is just one sold listing for a Celebrini 2024-25 Synergy card on eBay. The people demand more Celebrini!
THN's Chris Gawlik gave Upper Deck 2024-25 Synergy Hockey a score of 4.2. Although Synergy is much improved from a year-over-year perspective, the lack of Celebrini, price per box, resale value of singles, and lack of a defined hit drove the score down.
Upper Deck 2024-25 Synergy Hockey is definitely worth buying a box or two of. But the smarter play may be to wait a few weeks until the price drops a bit.
Happy hunting and collecting!

The #NJDevils are in a rut. After yesterday's game HC Sheldon Keefe spoke about the team's need to play simple, hard hockey which is exactly how Lazar's line played against PHI.
