Princess Sofia’s Two Tiaras: Which Is Your Favorite: Steel-Cut or Four-Button Diamond?

Princess Sofia is upping her tiara game once again.

The Swedish royal family always brings out the glitz for the country’s annual Nobel Prize ceremony, and on Saturday Sofia looked extra glam in a green dress by House of Dagmar. (Her mother-in-law, Queen Silvia, went for head-to-toe sequins.)

But it was Sofia’s choice of tiara that really stood out: the smaller steel-cut tiara, which only her sister-in-law Crown Princess Victoria has worn out in public prior to the ceremony. Instead of glittering gems on top, it’s dotted with steel circles, polished to (literal) gleaming perfection.

Her other jewels, however, were a royal rewear. You may recognize the emerald and diamond earrings from last year’s Nobel Prize banquet — she wore them then, too!

The day after the banquet, Sofia and her husband, Prince Carl Philip, attended a dinner for the Nobel laureates, where she wore a long-sleeved pink dress as well as a tiara with a bit more gemstone sparkle: the Diamond Four Button Tiara. Her diamond earrings have a bit of royal history, as well: They’re made from pieces of Queen Josephine’s (who lived during the mid-1800s) diamond stomacher. (Yes, that’s a real style term referring to a triangular panel that fills in the opening of a woman’s bodice.)
