Princess Charlotte Meets King Felipe of Spain at Wimbledon

Princess Charlotte Meets King Felipe of Spain at Wimbledon

Princess Charlotte made her Wimbledon debut today, joining her parents Kate Middleton and Prince William and brother Prince George in the royal box. There, she met another royal: King Felipe of Spain.

Cameras caught the young princess, and her mom the Princess of Wales, chatting with the Spanish king in the royal box. Princess Charlotte seemed very into the tennis match throughout, cheering and gasping at points alongside her brother, Prince George. She even sported sunglasses, just like her mom.

It's likely King Felipe was in attendance at the Wimbledon men's finals to cheer on Spanish player Carlos Alcaraz, who ended up defeating Novak Djokovic 1-6, 7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. The Princess of Wales, patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, was on hand to present the trophies to both Alcaraz and Djokovic. After Alcaraz won the US Open last year, he met the Spanish king at Zarzuela Palace.

"It's pretty amazing to get the call from the Spanish king. I was more nervous [for] that call than the match," Alcaraz said last year. "It's pretty amazing that the Spanish king congratulates you on the hard work that you put in every day and your win. It's something that you never thought you were going to receive." It's likely Alcaraz will have another Spanish celebration after triumphing at Wimbledon.

King Felipe and Princess Charlotte and her family were just a few of the royals sitting in the royal box today: Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, along with Lord Frederick Windsor and Lady Sophie Windsor, were also spotted.
