Prince Harry Sees Prince William's Relationship With Queen Camilla as a "Betrayal"
"For Harry, things have never moved on, really, since his mother died.”
Despite the royal family having enough going on with both King Charles and Kate Middleton receiving treatment for cancer, the rift between Prince Harry and Prince William continues to remain strong — and Queen Camilla is in the middle of it.
Following Charles and Kate's cancer diagnoses, William has been forging a deeper bond with Camilla as they continue their royal duties and support their spouses. "Recent events have obviously brought Prince William and Queen Camilla much closer," BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told Express.
Harry is not supportive of William's relationship with Camilla — in part, due to his continued loyalty to their late mother, Princess Diana. Royal author Tom Quinn told The Mirror, “He really distrusts that William actually gets on rather well now with Camilla—Harry will see this as a betrayal,” Quinn said. “He was shocked when William realized that Camilla, far from being the monster they thought her when they were children, is actually a rather nice woman.”
The update is not a surprising one — upon learning of Charles' cancer diagnosis and returning to the U.K. to visit him, a source told theTelegraph in February that Harry made a point to avoid his stepmother. He allegedly “preferred not to be in the same room with his stepmother when he spoke to the King about his cancer diagnosis," an insider told the outlet, per Cosmopolitan.
Quinn, however, added that Camilla has a certain touch that makes her easy to speak to. “She is exceptionally good at listening with a sympathetic ear and William has definitely warmed to that,” he added. “Harry, on the other hand, sees this as one more example of William letting the side down—for Harry, things have never moved on, really, since his mother died.”
