The Queen's Platinum Jubilee is so close we can almost taste the lemon swiss roll and amaretti trifle we'll be stuffing ourselves with when the four day bank holiday weekend rolls around. And we aren't the only ones looking forward to the big event, as the whole Royal Family is gearing up to mark Her Majesty's history-making 70 year reign – including Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who will be flying over from their home in the US to celebrate the milestone.
After months of speculation about whether they would attend the special occasion, last month Harry and Meghan confirmed they would be attending the Queen's Platinum Jubilee along with their two children, three-year-old Archie Harrison and 11-month-old Lilibet Diana (who has never met Her Majesty).
It'll be the first time the Sussexes have visited the UK as a family of four, and whilst the prospect of seeing them with the rest of the royals was exciting to say the least, the news was dampened slightly by an announcement that they would not be permitted to join Her Majesty on the Buckingham Palace balcony – which has been reserved for working royals only during the Trooping the Colour ceremony.
But, it seems the Monarch may have had a change of heart, and it's possible that Harry and Meghan will make an appearance on the infamous balcony after all. That's because, whilst they won't join the rest of the Royal Family on the balcony for the Trooping the Colour, they're not actually banned from attending any of the other (incredibly exciting) events.
Take the Platinum Pageant for example, which will take place on the final day of the bank holiday weekend, Sunday 5 June. The £15 million parade – which includes a performance from Ed Sheeran, a giant 3D sculpture of the Queen and the Gold State Coach – will work it's way along a 3km route through the city, and will presumably be watched by the royals (along with as many as one billion viewers at home) from the best vantage point in London, the Buckingham Palace balcony.
It's possible then that we may catch a glimpse of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the balcony with the likes of Her Majesty, Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, Prince Charles, Kate Middleton and the whole royal gang. What an iconic Jubilee moment that will be!
