THE PRIMAVERA END ON A WIN: 2-0 AGAINST MONZA

THE PRIMAVERA END ON A WIN: 2-0 AGAINST MONZA
THE PRIMAVERA END ON A WIN: 2-0 AGAINST MONZA

2024 ends with a win for the Milan Primavera who beat Monza 2-0 away thanks to goals from Duțu at the start of the second half and Scotti in the dying moments. This is the second consecutive away win in the space of three days following the victory over Sassuolo on Wednesday. Alert, compact and cynical, the Rossoneri chase down the train of sides on 31 points in the table, all following league-leading Roma. Filippo Scotti shone once again, after the brace against Sassuolo he bagged his third goal in two games with a brilliant shot into the top corner.

After an extremely closed first half, we did well to open the scoring at the start of the second half with a Duțu header from Victor's corner. From that moment on, the spaces opened up but Monza could have also gone level in certain moments, though never really troubling Mastrantonio. To have the final word, though, was Pippo Scotti out on his own on the counter. 2025 will start with two tough games: Lazio at home on 4 January and Atalanta away on 11 January, the last two fixtures of the first half of the season. Now, time for some well-deserved rest.

THE MATCH REPORT

The best chance in the first half came in the opening period for the Rossoneri. Scotti led a fine counter-attack and found Bakone, who put it in for Bonomi, only for the attempt to be saved by Ciardi's foot. Another chance in the 16th minute when Duțu, on the edge of the box, found Ibrahimović, who did not manage to take advantage of his excellent position. Sala tried from the edge of the box in the 26th minute, but it did not trouble Ciardi much. The last attempt in the first half came in the 35th minute, and this time it was Monza on the charge with ex-Rossoneri Jordan Longhi, putting in a central effort after a solo run, which was blocked by Duțu.

Excellent start to the second half for AC Milan, who took the lead in the 55th minute off a corner: Victor launched it in and Duțu jumped the highest to beat Ciardi, giving us the 1-0 lead. Inevitably the space opened up and Monza, until then totally defensively driven, raised their pressure up top. We came close to doubling the score with Victor in the 63rd minute, whose shot was just wide, while in the 76th minute a deflected left-footer by Berretta caused Mastrantonio's only real challenge of the day. Sala broke free on the edge of the box but his shot was too central in the 80th minute. Scotti's counter-attack proved too lethal in the 86th minute: all by himself, swerving and turning, he took the ball to his right and made it 2-0. Game, set, match.
