Bayer Leverkusen will be looking to close the gap at the top of the table and gain revenge on their opponents as they take on RB Leipzig at the Red Bull Arena on Saturday.

The last time these two sides met was on matchday two when Leipzig ended Leverkusen’s 35 game unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga by defeating them 3-2, thanks to a Lois Openda brace and a goal from Kevin Kampl.

Leipzig currently sit in fifth place in the table and are just one point behind fourth placed Stuttgart.

Marco Rose’s side gained a 2-1 win over Primeira Liga leaders Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League which was their first win in the competition.

However in their recent Bundesliga match, Leipzig were held to a 3-3 draw against 17th placed Bochum by throwing away a 3-0 lead.

They have conceded 17 times in their last seven matches.

Bayer Leverkusen suffered a 2-1 loss in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid, with Julien Alvarez scoring the winning goal in the 90th minute.

They continue to occupy second place in the Bundesliga table and are four points behind Bayern Munich who travel to Freiburg tomorrow.

Their win against Borussia Monchengladbach in their most recent Bundesliga match has now extended their winning streak in the league to eight matches.

Team News

Castello Lukeba returned to team training on Thursday and could be an option to be in the squad against Leverkusen for Leipzig.

Peter Gulacsi is making progress having been struggling with a shoulder issue during the week. A decision will be made on his place his the squad after the final training session, just like Lukeba.

Xaver Schlager remains out, as well as Benjamin Henrichs and Assan Ouedraogo.

As for Leverkusen, they will have two players missing as forward Amine Adli could return to action in the middle of next month, but Martin Terrier is set to miss the rest of the season.
