Preview: Leeds United vs Sheffield Wednesday
A third consecutive Yorkshire Derby awaits for Leeds United as they welcome Sheffield Wednesday to Elland Road, in Sunday’s Sky Bet Championship clash.
The Whites head into the tie sitting top of the league’s standings, unbeaten in nine matches in all competitions and enjoying a strong run of home form.
Last time, Daniel Farke’s side proved too strong for local neighbours Harrogate Town in the Emirates FA Cup Third Round thanks to Largie Ramazani’s second-half header, progressing to the next stage where they will host Millwall in February.
Attentions temporarily turned to the cup after United were held to a 1-1 draw on their previous league outing by Hull City at the MKM Stadium but focus on the Championship now resumes with three important points up for grabs.
Sheffield Wednesday, meanwhile, find themselves 10th in their pursuit of the Play-Offs, just four points adrift of sixth-placed Middlesbrough.
Last time out in the Championship, Gabriel Otegbayo's late goal salvaged a point for the Owls as they drew 2-2 with Millwall at Hillsborough.
The two sides have already met once this campaign, with strikes from Brenden Aaronson and Dan James giving Leeds an important victory over Danny Röhl’s side.
Action from Elland Road gets underway at 12pm.
