All The Pressure Is On Jonathan Quick With Igor Shetserkin Injured
Despite what you may read in the so-called "Mainstream Media," Igor Shesterkin's injury is not – repeat NOT – a "massive" blow to the Rangers.
If, however, the prognosis had been "out four months," yeah, Massive. Out three months, okay, Massive. two months, (small m) massive.
But gimme a break; the guy needs a break. This Iggy respite could be the best thing that' happened to the Blueshirts since the discovery of Matt Rempe. Oh, you're asking me WHY? Okay, listen up:
1. QUICKY: Big Jonathan is being paid for moments like this. We're talking about a Cup-winner who's been around the block – and Seventh Avenue – enough times not to tremble at his pinch-goaltending assignment.
2. LUCKY LOUIS: Monsieur Domingue is #3 goalie because he knows how to save pucks and save teams. He's already done it for six other NHL clubs so what's to worry? No reason at all!
3. REQUIRED REST: Shesty could use a respite. It would be most worthwhile for him to sit back, relax, determine what's really wrong with his team. And – why not? – check his bank account. Then, return and energize the playoff quest.
Goalies go down all over the place and subs come in and become stars.
It wasn't that long ago when the Vegas Knights won the Stanley Cup; not with their No. 1 goalie; and not with #2. but with a guy nobody but the mailman knew – third-stringer Adin Hill.
You want something to worry about, Rangers fans, try your manager Chris Drury. And then tell me the last time he made a good trade!
