President Joe Biden wishes Team USA good luck at 2024 Paris Olympics: 'You are the best'

Team USA begins its quest for glory at the 2024 Paris Olympics with the opening ceremony on Friday along Paris' famous Seine river.

And President Joe Biden is ready to watch the Americans in Paris.

On Friday, the 46th president posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) from outside the Oval Office at the White House wishing Team USA good luck in Paris while wearing his famous aviator glasses and Team USA ball cap.

"Let's go Team USA! You are the best in the world and you are going to show the world again. Go Team USA!" Biden said in his video.

While Biden himself is back in Washington D.C., First Lady Jill Biden is in Paris for Friday's opening ceremony leading the American presidential delegation that also include South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley, U.S. Ambassador to the French Republic, Sen. Chris Coons, Sen. Alex Padilla, Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles, Casey Wasserman of LA28 Olympic & the Paralympic Games and three-time Olympic figure skater Brian Boitano.

Team USA has dominated at the Olympic Games for several decades, and is projected to continue that dominance in Paris over the next two and a half weeks. To put that into perspective, over the last four Summer Olympics — 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2012 London Olympics, 2016 Rio Olympics and 2020 Tokyo Olympics — the United States has not only finished first among countries in medals won at each of the four Olympics, but has also won 442 total Olympics medals, 181 of which were gold.
