Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke tore Wolves apart in the Premier League this weekend as the duo dovetailed to devastating effect at Molineux.

Chelsea ran riot to claim a 6-2 win and Enzo Maresca’s first league win in charge, with Palmer and Madueke at the heart of the success. Madueke scored his first senior hat-trick in the win, with Palmer assisting each of his teammate’s goals.

It’s just the fifth time in Premier League history that a player has assisted the same teammate three or more times in the same game.

Mike Newell for Alan Shearer (1995)

Alan Shearer’s partnership with Chris Sutton is often remembered as the duo that fired Blackburn Rovers to Premier League success in the mid-nineties, but the former also had another fine sidekick in Mike Newell.

Newell assisted Shearer nine times in the 1995/96 season alone, as Shearer won a second successive Premier League Golden Boot.

Stan Collymore for Robbie Fowler (1995)

Robbie Fowler’s scintillating hat-trick against Arsenal in 1994 is well remembered, as the Liverpool forward took just four minutes and 33 seconds to complete his treble at Anfield. What’s often forgotten, however, is that Fowler repeated the trick the next season.

Fowler downed Arsenal at Anfield for the second successive season in 1995/96, scoring another hat-trick in a 3-1 win. Stan Colllymore claimed a hat-trick of assists in the process, with their partnership briefly brilliant for the Reds in the mid-nineties.

Thierry Henry for Fredde Ljungberg (2003)

Thierry Henry is widely recognised as the finest footballer of the Premier League era. A generational goalscorer, the Arsenal forward was also one of the league’s leading creators during his time in North London.

Henry set a new Premier League record with 20 assists in a single season during the 2002/03 campaign. Three of those came in the season’s final fixture for Freddie Ljungberg, as the Swede scored a hat-trick at The Stadium of Light.

Harry Kane for Son Heung-min (2020)

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min hold the record as the most productive partnership in Premier League history with no two teammates having combined for more goals.

One of the greatest performances of the Kane-Son partnership came at Southampton in 2020, where Kane assisted FOUR goals for his South Korean striker partner at St Mary’s. It was the first – and so far only – time a Premier League player has assisted four goals for a single teammate in the same game.

Kane ended the 2020/21 campaign with the Playmaker of the Season award, after creating 14 league goals.

Cole Palmer for Noni Madueke (2024)

Cole Palmer and Noni Madueke have joined this exclusive list after the former fed Madueke three times for a quick-fire hat-trick at Wolves.

Palmer’s perfectly-weighted passes picked out the runs of Madueke at Molineux, who helped himself to the first hat-trick of his senior career.

It clicked for Chelsea and Enzo Maresca, as two of the club’s top young talents found their groove. The Blues will hope this is the start of a fruitful understanding between the pair.
