Premier League move likely for Lille’s Jonathan David as West Ham join race

According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberga Premier League move is the most likely scenario for Lille OSC forward Jonathan David (24) this summer.

David was heavily linked with a departure from Lille last summer but ultimately remained at the Stade Pierre Mauroy, however, with just one year remaining on his current deal, it is thought that the time to leave has now come. LOSC president Olivier Létang revealed earlier this month that David was one of two players who would be allowed to leave the club, should a reasonable offer arrive.

Given the interest in the Canada international, currently away at the Copa America, Lille will be confident of receiving a good fee for their prolific forward. As reported by The Athletic, Chelsea have made contact with David’s representatives regarding a move this summer, whilst Manchester United have also been linked with a move.

Plettenberg has now added that West Ham United have also enquired about the Lille forward regarding a summer transfer. The German journalist understands that a move to the Premier League is the most likely outcome for David, whose time with LOSC looks set to come to an end in the near future. Since arriving at the Ligue 1 club back in 2020, he has made 183 appearances for the club, scoring 84 goals in that time.
