Premier League midfielder’s switch to Manchester City shut down as double eight-figure bid accepted

The possibility of one midfield arrival was shut down on Tuesday as Manchester City simultaneously finalised a big-money exit for one first-team striker talent.

The Premier League champions are continuously linked with a number of midfield talents from both within the English top-flight and across Europe, but little to no concrete developments have yet emerged in the third week of the summer market.

Talks of departures are more common at present, as Manchester City bosses seek urgent clarity on the futures of some first-team megastars, whilst finalising deals for outgoing Academy graduates in multi-faceted agreements.

As always, here is your daily and comprehensive summary of everything being discussed in the world of Manchester City transfer rumours and gossip from day 26 of the summer market!

Arrivals

Manchester City are not currently planning a move for Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze. (Sam Lee, The Athletic)

Neither Joao Gomes nor Wolves are in any rush to pursue a transfer despite interest from Manchester City among other potential suitors in the Premier League. Wolves will not consider offers unless they are ‘simply too good to turn down’. City and others would have to offer a ‘massive return’ on their £15 million investment. (Graeme Bailey, HITC)

Manchester City are ‘specifically interested’ in Dani Olmo. The midfielder has a €60 million release clause in his current contract but that is due to expire this month. Leipzig are willing to talk about Olmo after the clause expires, although they will not let the 26-year-old go below market value. (Sky Germany)

Departures

Manchester City expect both Kevin De Bruyne and Ederson to stay this summer, despite recent reports of agreements being reached on personal terms with Saudi Arabian clubs. (Sam Lee, The Athletic)

The situation with Joao Cancelo is the same as the last 18 months: Manchester City do not have him in their plans for next season and want him to move. City would prefer a permanent transfer but know there are very few takers. (Sam Lee, The Athletic)

Ipswich Town have agreed a deal with Manchester City to sign Liam Delap, paying an initial £15 million with an additional £5 million due in potential add-ons. The 21-year-old is expected to undergo a medical on Wednesday with personal terms not anticipated to be an issue. City have also agreed similar agreement with Southampton and it is now up to Delap to decide. (David Ornstein, The Athletic)

Manchester City’s accepted bids from Ipswich Town and Southampton for Liam Delap worth up to £20 million both include a 20% sell-on and buy-back clause. (Simon Bajkowski, Manchester Evening News)

AS Roma are considering signing Manchester City’s Issa Kaboré, with the player’s €8 million to €10 million asking price ‘within reach’ of the Italian club. (ForzaRoma)

Al-Nassr are looking to finalise the signing of a new goalkeeper within a week. Manchester City are now willing to accept €40 million for Ederson but that is still considered too high by the Saudi Pro League club, who do not want to pay more than €30 million. (Rudy Galetti, TEAMtalk)
