Premier League Awards: Devastating Diallo, Super Soler
Our Premier League awards honour the best – and worst – of the midweek action, featuring Amad Diallo, Arsenal’s ‘Big Six’ record and Prince William!
Moment of the Week
Like a reliable postman, Amad Diallo delivered again for Manchester United.
Just weeks after dramatic late goals against Manchester City and Liverpool, Diallo produced another clutch moment for Ruben Amorim. United’s recent optimism bubble was in danger of bursting after a poor performance against Southampton, who led at Old Trafford heading into the final eight minutes. The Saints have endured the worst-ever start to a Premier League campaign but were set for an upset until Diallo’s devastating late show.
The Ivorian hit a hat-trick in the closing stages to turn defeat into victory, becoming the second-youngest player to score a Premier League treble for United.
Amad Diallo netted the third fastest hat-trick in Man United’s Premier League history last night (12 minutes) ⚡️
Only Teddy Sheringham (10 minutes) and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (11 minutes) have achieved the feat in fewer minutes. pic.twitter.com/ZFvKqGRfR1

This has been a coming-of-age campaign for the winger.
In other news, we’re not sure how often the royals frequent Wetherspoons but we don’t imagine it’s too often. The future King decided he’d nip in this week, however, purchasing pints for Aston Villa fans in Birmingham.

Player of the Week
Could it be anyone else? Alexander Isak deserves a nod after scoring for the eighth straight game, but it’s impossible to over look Amad Diallo.
The winger’s treble against Southampton stretched his record to six goals and six assists in the Premier League this season. He also led the contest for touches (most), touches in the opposition box (16), fired six shots and completed 5/6 of his take-ons.
Diallo is a live-wire and regains possession in the final third more times on average (1.7) per 90 than any other player in the Premier League. It’s an intensity in the press that has been sorely lacking at Manchester United in recent campaigns.
Goal of the Week
Carlos Soler celebrated his first goal for West Ham this week and what a hit.
The on-loan midfielder ruthlessly punished a defensive error from Fulham to slam home his first for the Irons.
Sweetly struck by Soler 🔥

Save of the Week
Matz Sels has been in inspired form for Nottingham Forest this season and delivered another goalkeeping masterclass to frustrate Liverpool at the City Ground. Sels’ six saves earned Forest a hard-fought point with the best of the bunch a point-blank sprawl to stop Diogo Jota from scoring.
The Belgian leads the league for clean sheets and save percentage this season.

Miss of the Week
David Moyes called upon Dominic Calvert-Lewin to deliver for an Everton side that has struggled for goals this week.
It didn’t quite work out as planned.
Calvert-Lewin extended his goalless run to 16 league games and missed a glorious chance to net a late leveller in the 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa. Moyes has insisted Everton need more quality before the deadline and a reliable centre-forward should be top of the list.
Was that Everton’s last chance? 🙈
Calvert-Lewin fails to convert Lindstrøm’s cross to secure an equaliser for Everton.

Stat of the Week
Arsenal closed the gap on leaders Liverpool with a 2-1 win over Tottenham in the North London derby.
It was a huge result for the Gunners after a recent mini-wobble, as an own goal from Dominic Solanke and Leandro Trossard’s strike sealed the point. Incredibly, Arsenal are approaching two years since their last Premier League defeat to a ‘Big Six’ rival.
Since losing to Manchester City in April 2023, the North Londoners have gone 632 days and 16 games since losing to any of Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man United or Spurs in the Premier League.
