Predicting the 5 remaining 2025 NFL head coaching vacancies
With Mike Vrabel off to the New England Patriots and Ben Johnson reportedly joining the Chicago Bears, there are five remaining NFL head coaching vacancies for 2025 as of now.
As we survey the five teams still looking for a head coach, a few candidates stand out as obvious hires for those jobs.
Some of these hires might seem obvious, while a few may come as a surprise. However, they all could have good chances of helping turn around the teams that they join as head coaches.
These roles could be filled at any minute, so let's not delay our predictions for who these teams will ultimately hire as their next head coach.
Dallas Cowboys: Kellen Moore
The Cowboys bringing Moore back as their head coach makes a lot of sense. He's done admirable work with the Philadelphia Eagles as their offensive coordinator this season, and Dallas making a division rival weaker by bringing back one of their own would be a smart move.
Jacksonville Jaguars: Liam Coen
Coen emerged in 2024 as one of the NFL's brighter offensive minds with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he could be what the Jaguars need to revive its offense and help quarterback Trevor Lawrence live up to his potential. Plus, he wouldn't have to go very far from Tampa Bay to Jacksonville.
Las Vegas Raiders: Joe Brady
After the Raiders reportedly struck out on Johnson, we predict they immediately pivot and go after Brady, another one of the game's rising offensive minds from his time with the Buffalo Bills and Carolina Panthers as an offensive coordinator. He'd be a very good consolation prize.
New Orleans Saints: Mike McCarthy
McCarthy should land another head coaching job in this cycle, and New Orleans might be his best landing spot. If the Saints really are determined to run it back and not kick off a rebuild, McCarthy is a good candidate to bring some stability to the franchise. However, a rebuild makes more sense.
New York Jets: Aaron Glenn
We'll predict Glenn returns to the franchise where he once played and worked as a personnel scout to lead it out of the ruins of Aaron Rodgers' failed tenure. His days as the Detroit Lions' defensive coordinator give hope that he can fix things in New York.
