Gustav Nyquist scored the equalizer with 5:10 left in the period, receiving a long pass from Filip Forsberg and sending a backhand shot past Gibson to make it 1-1.
Late in the period, however, a turnover by Roman Josi allowed Mason McTavish to finish off a quick cross-ice pass from Alex Killorn to put the Ducks up 2-1 with just five seconds remaining in the first. Predators defenseman Nick Blankenburg left the game briefly after taking an elbow up high from Troy Terry, but he returned later in the period.
Ducks starting goaltender John Gibson left after the first period with an upper-body injury and was replaced by Lukas Dostal. Ryan O'Reilly scored the game-tying goal in the second period, burying a rebound behind Dostal to tie the game 2-2 at the 5:07 mark.
Things quickly came unraveled for Nashville later in the second period, however, as Jansen Harkins, Trevor Zegras and McTavish scored three goals in less than four minutes to build a 5-2 lead for the Ducks.
