Predators' Luke Evangelista Suffers Apparent Leg Injury vs. Jets

Promising young Nashville Predators forward Luke Evangelista left Tuesday night's game against the Winnipeg Jets after suffering an apparent injury to his left leg, playing 4:02 before exiting.

Evangelista did return to the Predators' bench at the end of the second period, but the 22-year-old did not take the ice again and was subsequently ruled out from returning to the game a short while later.

A hit made by Jets defenseman Neal Pionk appeared to cause the injury to the Predators' former second-round pick; Pionk's right knee got inside Evangelista's left leg, wiping him out and sending him crumpling to the ice.

Evangelista did not immediately go to the locker room and instead tried to test his leg out on the ice, but needed the help of Tommy Novak, who recently returned from an injury of his own, to do so.

The Predators went into the first intermission down 3-0, with Morgan Barron, Josh Morrissey, and Kyle Connor providing the trio of tallies for the Jets.

Evangelista's injury does not appear to be serious, as he did return to the bench again before being ruled out. He has four goals, 10 assists, and 14 points in 39 games played this season.

This is a developing story.
