Predators' Filip Forsberg Set to Reach 6 Career Milestones

Filip Forsberg had a career year in 2023-24, but he is far from done. The Nashville Predators bolstered their lineup and got a whole lot better with much higher expectations this season. That being said, Forsberg will have even more help around him to add to his already elite talents.

After coming off such a great season, expectations are high for Forsberg and he has put himself in position to reach six career milestones in 2024-25.

Forsberg has played 698 career regular season games, meaning he is only two games from 700 and 52 games from 750. The latter is the bigger accomplishment and very attainable this season. He has played 82 games in a season in four of 10 seasons in his career, including 2023-24. The only times he didn't reach 52 games was 2022-23 (50) and the shortened 56-game 2020-21 season (39).

The next career milestone that Forsberg is most definitely going to hit is 300 goals. He sits at 287 and had a career high of 48 last season. He is a four-time 30-goal scorer and two-time 40-goal scorer, both coming within the past three seasons. Forsberg is a sniper and will have even more weapons on the power-play to feed him the puck. There is a possibility he even hits 50 this season for the first time in his career. Nevertheless, he will hit 300 career goals relatively early if he stays healthy.

While Forsberg continues to score goals, he also adds to his career point total. He also set a career high in points last season with 94, breaking his previous career high of 84. Forsberg sits at 605 points, meaning he'll have to score just one more point than he did last season to reach 700. He is in his prime and while the top line should stay together, Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault are now on the team and will be joining Forsberg on the top power play. It may come close, but Forsberg should be chasing down the last points he needs to hit 700 in his career at the end of the season.

Continuing with the points, Forsberg has been effective in scoring on the man advantage throughout his career. This has gotten him to 185 career power-play points. It includes 75 goals and 110 assists after he scored 13 power-play goals and had 32 power-play points last season. As I already mentioned, the power play just got a whole lot more dangerous and Forsberg is going to benefit greatly from that. He should get 15 points on the man advantage before the halfway point of the season.

Forsberg is a sniper and shoots a ton each season. He has a great shot and scores, so why would he stop now? He exploded for 347 shots last season, 100 more than his previous career high of 247 shots set in 2015-16. With the success Forsberg had last season, he is going to get over 300 shots again if he plays the majority of the season. To reach 2500 shots, he needs 295.

The final milestone Forsberg can reach this season is 1000 hits. While he is known for his goal-scoring, he also uses his body and throws a good amount of hits each season. Once again, he delivered a career high in hits with 141, but excluding the 2020-21 season where he only played 39 games, Forsberg has thrown at least 82 hits each season.

It looks like it is going to be another great season for Forsberg and the Predators are going to need it if they are to match expectations.
